Massage and Tendonitis

If you've had Tendonitis before, you'll know it SUCKS. Pain and swelling occur when a tendon (the thick, fibrous cord-like tissue that attaches muscle to bone) gets irritated or inflamed, making it super uncomfortable to perform normal daily activities and takes what seems like forever to heal. Generally repetitive patterns or over-use of particular muscles will put stress on the tendon causing the irritation/inflammation, very common at shoulders, elbows, wrists and knees. While there is no quick-fix cure for Tendonitis unfortunately, massage can help speed up the healing process by releasing the strain on the tendon through soft tissue work, breaking up fascial adhesions and increasing blood flow to the area. Increased blood flow = increased nutrient supply = Speedier recovery! .
